Before: A Hidden Gem That Needed Some Love
When we first walked into Little Mount Sion, we could see it had something, a certain charm beneath all the wear and tear.
The structure was solid, and there were some lovely original details, but the years had definitely left their mark. The rooms felt cramped and gloomy, the fittings were well past their best, and the layout just didn’t make much sense. Outside, the place looked tired — the character was still there, but it was hidden under a layer of neglect.
Like a lot of older homes in Tunbridge Wells, it had features worth saving. It just needed the right approach to bring them back to life.
Before our work began, it was full of worn-down, broken fixtures and had clearly seen better days.
The Vision
The brief was simple: honour the heritage, but make it work for the way we live today.
- Opening up the kitchen and living space to bring in more natural light and improve flow
- Introducing high‑quality features that feel timeless and fresh
- Incorporating energy‑efficient solutions for a comfortable and sustainable setting
The Transformation Process
Stripping Back to the Essentials
We started by removing what didn’t work — dated flooring, worn‑out fittings, and tired lighting. This gave us a clean slate and helped us focus on the property’s strengths.
Layout Reconfiguration
One of the biggest improvements was reworking the flow between rooms. We redesigned the layout so that kitchen, dining, and living spaces felt connected — much more suited to modern living and entertaining.
Light & Space
We leaned into the home’s natural assets, especially its many windows, and introduced a lighter colour palette to make each room feel brighter and more open. Letting natural light do the hard work transformed the feel of the place.

Modern Comforts
While the charm remained intact, everything else got an upgrade. Modern bathrooms, new kitchens, upgraded electrics, insulation and heating — the home now looks beautiful and works beautifully too.

After: A Modern and Stylish Home
The finished Little Mount Sion is unrecognisable from the run‑down shell we first saw. It’s now a bright, thoughtfully designed home — elegant and supremely comfortable.
Right in Tunbridge Wells town centre, it strikes a rare balance: near all the action, yet tucked away on a quiet street for peace and privacy.
For us at Presence & Co., this project is about more than renovation. It’s about creating homes that feel personal, warm, and intentional — spaces that people genuinely want to live in.
Now, thanks to our careful approach, Little Mount Sion has become a large, light‑filled family home.
It’s a prime example of how old and new can live in harmony — the transformation has elevated both the house and the whole street.
Every Home Has a Story
We’re proud to have played a part in Little Mount Sion’s transformation — and prouder still that it’s now poised for many years of happy living.

The striking exterior — exposed brick and a green front door — is a simple, standout finish for a home reimagined.
